Temporary Bracing of Masonry WallsTemporary bracing of masonry walls requires consultation with, and direction from, a professional engineer who can appreciate all of the variables which may impact on the design, materials, and construction of the bracing. These variables may include specific job requirements, intended duration of bracing, local soil and climatic conditions, and other factors.
Two CSAO manuals published in 1982 -- Temporary Bracing for Masonry Walls (M8) and the Masonry Handbook (M2) -- were withdrawn in 1988 out of concern that all variable factors relating to temporary bracing might not have been adequately addressed. Subsequent notices have advised that these books be discarded. Please make sure that they are not included among your publications. Please discard any copies to prevent their inadvertent use and replace with this notice.
